Tell me more about Make-up Consultants.
What is a Make-up Consultant?
A make-up consultant is someone who has been trained to apply some of the techniques used in colour analysis to identifying which make-up colours would suit an individual's colouring. They also have the skill and knowledge to be able to apply make-up on a wide range of people for different situations. They are able to offer either a 1 to 1 consultation, or a small group make-up consultation, or a make-up party.
It is not party-plan selling. They have a genuine skill that earns them money. They sell products as well, but they are skills focused. What's more, they can easily add to their knowledge by training in advanced make-up, colour or style at a later date, and some choose to do so.
What happens at a 1 to 1, or small group consultation?
In these consultations the make-up consultant uses our specially designed colour capes to identify the undertone of the skin so that they can best advise the client as to which colours would suit them. They then take the client through a step-by-step application of each product; how the client can best wear it, how to get a great look with foundation, blusher, eye make-up and lipstick. The client is then able to buy the products and colours that they have seen used, knowing that they have been selected specifically for them, and knowing how to apply them. The consultant can set their own charge for a consultation (normally £20 - £40 per hour) plus they earn the commission on any sales made.
How does the make-up party work?
A make-up party is for approximately 10 people. Generally, the hostess arranges the party and there is no charge. Skin tone analysis is not normally done in this setting, as there are too many people, but may be demonstrated by the consultant on the hostess if they choose. The focus of the evening is to introduce the group to the product range and tell them how to use the different products. The aim of the party is to get bookings for consultations and to sell products.
How much can I earn?
That is up to you! You could earn money flexibly to fit around your family commitments and make your business what you want it to be. For our part, we offer the best and the simplest commission structure of any direct selling cosmetic company.
As a consultant, you are able to buy from our online trade shop where there is no minimum order and postage is £4 for orders under £100 and free for orders over £100 (UK).
For more details please email us and request commission details.
Do I need to have had experience in make-up?
You do not need to have any experience in make-up application techniques or selling, but you do need to enjoy working with make-up and people and be enthusiastic!
Can I sell the make-up without doing the training?
Yes you can. There are resources on the website (in the consultants' area) that tell you about each of the products. However, if you do the training you place yourself above other direct sellers of cosmetics because you have a unique skill and training that they do not have (whatever they claim).
How much ongoing support do I get?
At the training we will give you all the skills and knowledge to hold a make-up consultation. We know that everyone one wants to run their businesses differently, and everyone has different levels of confidence and previous experience. We aim to be available to support you as you start and as you grow your business, but we know that no two consultants or businesses are the same.
Do I get a page on your website?
Yes you do! Each consultant can create their own welcome page, which can be customised with photo/logo and their own text. This this is a great way to advertise your business without any hassle and expense.
Can I do more training if I want to?
Yes, you can do an advanced make-up course or you can train to be a colour and/or style consultant if you want to. You will already have a client base from the make-up work so you will be ideally placed to start working as an image consultant if you choose to.
What is the commission's structure and how does it work?
You can earn commission by selling stock or from sales taken via the website, and of course from your consultations.
