Why you need a great primer

In our Grandmothers' day, make-up was ‘set’ by applying a dusting of powder over the face when you had finished. The problem with this is that too much powder on the face can be aging, as it tends to collect or sit in any creases or lines and dry the skin.

With modern air conditioning and central heating our skin tends to dry out more than our Grandmothers’ did. Primers are great products for our modern living as they lock in the moisture of the skin.

Because primers are a relatively new product and they have become very popular very quickly, the products that truly work have become very expensive. You also get a lot of cheap primers that don’t really do the job. Ours, like all our products, is made from the very best ingredients but sold at a very reasonable price.

Most equivalent products are twice the price! And more - one bottle lasts a long time as you only need a small amount. It's fantastic quality at a fantastic price.

What to look for in an exceptional primer

A good quality primer fills the fine lines, smoothes the surface texture of the skin, locks in moisture and fixes the make-up that is applied over it. It shouldn't leave your skin feeling greasy or looking shiny.

Do the ‘back of the hand' test - apply a small amount of primer to the back of one hand and then compare it to the other, non-primer hand. Amazing isn’t it?

How to apply Silk Foundation Primer

Clean and moisturise your face as normal, and then apply a pea sized amount of Silk Foundation Primer all over the face. It can be used on the lips to keep them soft and is light enough to go over the eye area.

If you are in a hurry or you like a tinted foundation, a great tip with primer is to mix it with a bit of your foundation and apply it as one.  It is so quick and easy to do and gives a lovely natural finish.

However, if you have very oily skin you may prefer to use a translucent finishing powder over your make-up, as it’s great way to get rid of any unwanted shine.
