Foundation is probably the most important part of make-up to get right and the one where people waste the most money trying.

GREAT TIP! To see if you have got the right colour foundation, blend a small amount just above the jawbone. The right colour will blend away to nothing. If you can see it – it’s not the right one for you.

Foundation should blend seamlessly to your jawbone, but go no further. It should even out your skin tone rather than change it.

If you've been blessed with great skin, you really don’t need to use much - just use where it’s needed and blend away to nothing.

To get maximum coverage, apply with a brush. For lighter coverage use a damp sponge or fingers.

Application:
Make sure any moisturising cream has been completely absorbed by the skin before applying foundation. The skin should feel smooth but not tacky to touch. There are three ways to apply a foundation: with a cosmetic sponge, your fingertips or a foundation brush. Applying with a damp sponge will give you the lightest coverage, applying with your fingertips will give you medium coverage and applying with a brush will give you full coverage. If skin has visible open pores and you apply with a brush, you need to work the foundation more over that area. Foundation does not need to be applied all over the face; it can be used for specific areas only, eg around the eyes. Make sure the edges are well blended.
